Born and raised in South Africa, Chris Yates founded Snack Shack to share the bold, nostalgic flavours he grew up loving. What started as a craving for the tastes of home quickly turned into a mission: to bring authentic South African snacks to Aussie shores – and onto as many platters as possible.
A qualified chef with a Certificate II in Commercial Cookery and currently completing his Certificate IV at TAFE SA, Chris blends creativity, precision, and a serious love for good food. From perfectly crisp pizzas and sushi rolls to loaded sandwiches, biltong, and fully customisable party platters – everything Chris makes is packed with flavour and crafted with pride.

Where are your products stocked?
You can purchase our products online or for your convenience you can go to Miekie's Pantry to purchase our products any day of the week at 5/48 Beach Road in Christies Beach. Monday - Friday 9 am - 7 pm, Saturday 9 am - 5 pm and Sunday 11 am - 3 pm
Do you Deliver or where can I collect my order?
We deliver for custom orders. Web orders can be collected at Christie Downs House from Monday to Friday between 9and 3pm. Cnr Flaxmill and Morton Rd, Christie Downs SA 5164.
How are products received?
The ready-made build your own snack platter snacks are prepared and immediately frozen to maintain freshness. The products are then easily heated in the oven or air fryer by you on the day of your special occasion. For Special Occasion platters we will prepare your platter for you and deliver 15 minutes prior to the start of your function so no preparation or heating needs to be done by you.
Can I place a custom snack platter order for a special occasion?
Absolutely! We specialise in crafting custom snack platters to make your special moments even more memorable. Whether it's a birthday, wedding, anniversary, or any other celebration, our talented chef Chris can create a personalised platters that suits your taste and theme. Please contact us directly to discuss your specific requirements.
Do you offer any gluten-free options?
Yes, we understand the importance of catering to various dietary needs. Our ready made snacks are not gluten free. We can provide gluten free options with custom orders for special occasions. These items are prepared with the same dedication to quality and taste as our regular products, ensuring that everyone can savor our treats.
Do you have vegetarian and vegan options available?
We offer a range of vegetarian snacks. From Spring rolls to samosas and sweets, our vegetarian options are made with high-quality, plant-based ingredients that don't compromise on flavor. If you are a vegetarian, you'll find a few choices in shop, alternatively contact us for custom Vegetarian and vegan offers for special events.
